Statement:

Cherokee Veterans Community will assist those in the situation of homelessness by providing resources to both VA and other governmental agencies and local resources. CVC itself does not have a program in place to provide housing assistance directly. We will do everything in our power to guide and assist our veterans who are trapped in this situation.

Homes for Our Troops (HFOT): Privately funded nonprofit organization building specially adapted, mortgage-free homes nationwide for the most severely injured Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. (www.hfotusa.org/)

Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program is intended to provide material support for repair projects and there is no requirement that the Veteran in need belongs to the American Legion. This is a Cherokee Countywide program and we are working with the other Veteran organizations within Cherokee County to help identify our fellow Veterans who need minor repairs done to their homes. The grant from The Home Depot Foundation is part of the company’s nationwide effort, in partnership with Veteran service organizations like American Legion, to improve the homes and lives of U.S. military veterans and their families.
